Machnamh

I am not an Irish speaker; I do speak more than one language, but this one I have not yet attempted. But I would love to learn.

Irish is the language of the very land I am living in right now, and there are places not far away from our home where English is the second language, and I love that.

The word “Machnamh” is the Irish word for meditation, meaning reflection, contemplation, or meditation primarily.

This is what we are aiming for with this blog and the writings that will follow. I am hoping to gather different contributors who will be able to share their experiences and invite us to meditate, contemplate through the written word, with sentences, poetry and narrative their faith journey and how we can be encouraged and edified.

One of my favourite poems that is found in the Scripture is Psalm 19

“Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O LORD, my rock and my redeemer.”
(Psalm 19:14 ESV)

The whole of Psalm 19 is powerful and full of pictures that enable the imagination to focus and meditate on the different ways we can engage our minds to machnamh.

Come and join us!
